Jadavpur University (JU) has had a very focused development in specific areas of research. Presently on average of 350 research projects funded both by national funding agencies as well as international funding agencies are bein executed.

Jadavpur University is primarily an unitary university. The close academic linkage between the three faculties Arts, Science and Engineering & Technology has enabled the university to take up several important multidisciplinary research activities.

UGC has identified "Mobile Computing & Communication" and Nanotechnology" as the thrust areas for developing Ju's potential for becoming a centre of Excellence.

Our goal in achieving excellece is to work with partners rather than being an island of excllence. The emphasis is more on partnership building with diferent universities going for joint programmes and credit sharing with research institutions to build multim institutional platforms and cemeting the relationship throuh signing of MOUs. We are also actively engaged in finalising collaborative projects with industries with known areas of developmental researhc work. JU intends to institute partnership with Universities/Research Institutions/Knowledge based Industries to open up the exciting future technology and to address some of the immediate problems of our society.
